Retirement & Savings Plans
Wisconsin Retirement System provides retirement (pension) benefits to UW employees and most public employees in Wisconsin and is administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds. Employees are automatically enrolled on their first day they are eligible and may not opt out of the program. Your participation is mandatory with an employer match.

Tax Sheltered Annuity 403(b) Program provides a supplemental retirement savings program which can be pre-tax and/or after-tax (Roth) and is managed by investment companies. Your participation is voluntary with no employer match.

Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Program provides a supplemental retirement savings plan and is and is administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds through a third party administrator.

Family & Medical leave provides you with the right to take job-protected leave with continued benefits when you need to off from work to care for yourself or a family member who is seriously ill, care for a newborn or newly adopted child, or to care for a family member who is called to active duty in the military. Catastrophic leave allows for continuation of salary and benefits for an eligible employee who has a catastrophic need and has exhausted all their paid leave.
